A welcoming community garden in the heart of Canterbury open to all
Oasis Community Garden is a partnership project with the University of Kent, Groundworks and Hadlow College based at the University’s Canterbury campus. The Gardens provide a welcoming space for people to come and enjoy natural environment. We provide training in basic horticulture, and support people back into employment, but also maintain a safe environment for people to socialise and re engage with the community.
Who comes along?
It is open to all and welcomes volunteers throughout the year to supported sessions that run every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 2pm. The sessions are led by a DBS checked Project Officer and many volunteers offer peer support to newcomers.
Kent Enterprise Trust has been involved in community gardening since 2011 and has helped revive an underused garden site at the University of Kent. Originally set up for staff and students, the Oasis garden provided a space for growing fruit and vegetables on site. The University have now opened their doors to the charity and other partner organisations to form Kent Community Oasis Garden (KentCOG).
